On June 3, 2010 the Marin County Fire Chief’s Association announced a new program to educate residents on the threats posed by wildfire and to provide a wildfire action plan that gives residents the tools to prepare themselves, their family and their homes from the devastating effects of a wildfire. Current Information - Blood Drives

The Marin City Blood Drive and Barbecue was an unbelieveable success!  We broke records for donated blood - over 150 units, with a 3 hour wait to donate.  The fill the boot campaign raised funds to help the Martin family.   Thank you to all who participated.
 
Information on the status of Captain Ruben Martin, his recovery, and community efforts to asist his family, will be posted here.  Check back for updates frequently.  Marin County Fire Department and the Martin Family appreciate the outpouring of support, and thank you for your continued help and prayers during Ruben's difficult recovery.      
 
Blood Drives:  Captain Martin required an extremely large amount of blood while being treated at the trauma center and during surgery.  To help Ruben, and to help local blood banks replenish their supplies for others in need, please donate today.
  • March 2: Santa Rosa Fire Department, in conjunction with AMR will be conducting a Blood drive for Ruben Martin on March 2nd, 10 am to 3 pm at the Blood Bank of the redwoods, 2324 Bethards Dr, Santa Rosa.

Fire Captain's Condition Improves

Fire Captain Ruben Martin's condition has improved, and he is now in serious but stable condition.  Doctors at John Muir Medical Center have moved him from the ICU, and expect further improvement in his condition.  Marin County Fire Department wishes to express our heartfelt thanks for all of the support Ruben, his family, and MCFD have received from the community and fire-service.


Fire Captain Critically Injured

Marin County Fire Department Fire Captain Ruben Martin was critically injured Monday, February 11 while on duty.  He was airlifted to the level 2 trauma center at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
