Board Meeting Documents

The Novato Fire Protection District Board meeting agenda and all associated board meeting documents are available for public review at 95 Rowland Way, Novato 72 hours in advance of a scheduled Board meeting. Copies of board documents are available upon request; a fee will be charged for copies. Copies of the Board meeting agenda and all associated documents are also available at each meeting.


The Novato Fire District is located in northern Marin County, California. The Fire District encompasses approximately 71 square miles and serves a population of more than 60,000 citizens. It is bounded on the north by San Antonio Creek and Sonoma County, by Pacheco Grade and the community of Marinwood to the south, by the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay to the east, and west to a point approximately three miles past Stafford Lake. The City of Novato, a general-purpose governmental entity, lies within and is served by the District.

The Novato Fire Protection District is an independent special fire district established by the Marin County Board of Supervisors in July of 1926.

The District is governed by an elected five-person Board of Directors, serving four-year terms.

The Novato Fire District provides all risk emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens of the Novato Fire Protection District and those visiting or passing through the area. The District is comprised of three divisions, all of which are administered by the Fire Chief. Administration


The District provides Administrative services in the areas of Human Relations, Logistical Support, Budgeting and Accounting, Purchasing and Facility and Equipment maintenance.

Emergency Response


The District's emergency response services include fire suppression, emergency medical service, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, auto extrication, water rescue and Urban Search and Rescue.

Fire Prevention and Life Safety


The District's Fire Prevention and Life Safety services include fire investigation, fire prevention, Code Enforcement, Weed Abatement, Public Education including disaster preparedness training, station tours, school visits, first aid training and CPR training.
